The land under heaven was originally one family,
In the whole world all men are brothers.
=================================

Gong yu shan qi shi, bi xian li qi qi.

If the workman is planning to do a good job,
He must first sharpen his tools.
=================================

Chu sheng du er bu pa hu, zhang chu jiao lai dao bu lang.

A newly born calf is not afraid of the tiger,
However, when it has its horns it is frightened by the fox.

Jin shui lou tai xian de yue, xiang yang hua mu zao feng chun.

A waterfront pavilion gets the moonlight first;
Those flowers and trees facing the sun get the sunlight first.
======================================

Jiang cuo jiu cuo, jiang ji jiu ji.

Leave a mistake uncorrected and make the best of it;
Turn somebody's trick against him.
================================

Ji bu ke shi, shi bu zai lai.

Don't let an opportunity slip away;
It may never come again.

Da shi hua wei xiao shi, xiao shi hua wei mei shi.

Turn big problems into small problems,
And small problems into no problem at all.
=================================

Liang er bu wen chuang wai shi, yi xin zhi du sheng xian shu.

I do not care what is going on outside the window,
As I am busying in the study of the classics.
===============================

Zuo lao shi ren, shuo lao shi hua, ban lao shi shi.

Be an honest man,
Honest in word,
And honest in deed.

Ban dao tu shan tian ping gou, da gao ren zao xiao ping yuan.

The purpose of flattening the hills to fill the gullies
Is to create a small man-made plain.

Jing shui bu fan he shui, ge ren zi you ge ren ye.

Well water does not intrude into river water;
Each person minds his own business.
===============================

Da she xian da tou, qin zei xian qin wang.

Hitting a nakes the first is to hit the head,
And catching thieves the first is to catch the chief.
