Some snippets from the article posted above that Kobo found quite interesting:
Di Meng, a native of Changchun who lives in Beijing, is currently attending the University of Southern California. The 23-year-old says the volatility of the Chinese government and, consequently, its economy, pushed him to invest in real estate overseas. Not keen to rent student housing, he recently paid around $800,000 for a Ritz-Carlton condo in downtown Los Angeles.
-----
Steven Loh, a businessman from Singapore who runs a real-estate advisory group called Silkrouteasia Capital Partners, is a bulk buyer. He recently purchased six apartments in Los Angeles's Ritz-Carlton Residences for about $1 million each and is also facilitating a $60 million transaction with several overseas investors to buy more than 50 condos in another Los Angeles development.
Mr. Loh says he wanted to get a jump on the market before property values rise. He isn't worried about Americans—he thinks it will be other Asian-based buyers and businesses who drive up prices, so he is courting them now to invest in the deals he's striking.

That reminds Kobo of something he wrote at the thread titled "Chinese Students, Come To America To Study!!!! ;-0" found at the following link:

Or you might opt for USC instead. ;-0
I have a cousin whose niece works at USC admissions and she says that they receive so many letters from China inquiring about admissions that they're overwhelmed. ;-0
USC is about 5 minutes from downtown Los Angeles.
Buy a luxury condo at the Ritz-Carlton and drive the 5 minutes to school or take a 15 minute bus ride.

I wonder whether Di Meng or Steven Loh might not have read what Kobo wrote. ;-)
Loh bought 6 apartments at the Ritz-Carlton and plans to buy another 50 condos within the city of Los Angeles!?!?!?!?! ;-0
As Kobo wrote at the thread titled "Wealthy Chinese Investors Should Buy Up Downtown Los Angeles" (found at the following link: http://www.asiawind.com/forums/read.php?f=11&i=59539&t=59539 )
