買盡天下物,---Mai3 jin4 tian xia4 wu4,
難買子孫賢.---Nan2 mai3 zi3 sun xian2.
You can buy up all the things in the world,
But you cannot buy virtue for your offspring.

養兒待老,---Yang3 er2 dai4 lao3,
積穀防饑.---Ji gu3 fang2 ji.
Having children is to await getting old,
Storing up grain is to prevent a lean year.

清清之水,---Qing qing zhi shui3,
為土所防.---Wei2 tu2 suo3 fang2.
The flow of the clear water
Is blocked by the earth
濟濟之士,---Ji3 ji3 zhi shi4,
為酒所傷.---Wei2 jiu3 suo3 shang.
There are so many scholars,
Who are harmed by wine.
土能防水，酒會傷人，
很多好漢，倒于酒色之下，
這是我們要借鑒的。
