 Feast of the Pentecost

For Chinese Christians only - Not for general discussion.

This is an edited version of my weekly discourse to my family realtives and friends.

Sunday Mass 27/5/12

This Sunday’s Mass 1st Reading was on Pentecost [Acts 2:1-11], 2nd Reading on ‘The Fruit of the Spirit’ [Galatians 5:16-25] and Gospel Reading on ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’ [John 15:26-27; 16:12-15].

Go beyond the fact that the congregation at Pentecost started speaking in their different tongues and yet understood each other; see beyond the signs and the symptoms. We are all the same in the ‘spirit’. We will all make the journey of reconciliation home to the Spirit Father in Heaven, as the lost prodigal son in the ‘spirit’. When we leave this world we will leave it totally physically – from dust to dust! There is no resurrection of the body for us! There are no houses or toilets in heaven! There is no ‘marriage’ in heaven! Your worldly parents will not be your ‘parents’ in Heaven! In the ‘spirit’ we are all one with him – the Father, the Son, in the Spirit. In the ‘spirit’ we are the sons-of-God and in His image. Our body is not in His image. God is not black or white or green or purple; or male or female! Nor would God have created something that evolves or dies or get extinct like dinosaurs!

Remember what Jesus said to Nicodemus about having to be reborn? That you have to be baptised by water and by the spirit? These are symbolic terms and metaphorical language. For as Jesus said the ‘spirit’ is like the wind, you know not how it comes and goes.

I have said in a past discourse that ‘water’ signifies’ purity and that the ‘spirit’ represents our eternal heavenly being or image. When we were born we were born out of a ‘water bag’ and came out pure; then we breathed and received the ‘spirit’ of life. Like the wind we came. When we die the breath of life leaves us and like the wind we go! So what comes and goes in us like the wind is due to we reaping what we sow. If we do not want to come back to this world we must watch what we sow. Rebirth as in going back to heaven is like that. You have to be baptised by water; you have to be purified; you have to sow so that there is no more room for the Reaper of Death in you on Earth! Your baptism of the spirit is when you set your eternal spirit free from human bondage!

So the journey of the prodigal son back home to heaven is not like a worldly journey. It is a ‘spirit’ journey! How does a ‘spirit’ journey home? It travels back in time. It travels ‘within’ you! You cannot make a ‘spiritual’ journey with human worldly eyesight! You have to have ‘spiritual insight’.
