 Ministry: No Human Flesh Capsules Found in China

An investigation by China's Health Ministry has found no traces of powdered human flesh in drug capsules, a ministry spokesman said on Tuesday.

Deng Haihua said the Health Ministry started investigating media reports last August that China-made drug capsules contained powdered human flesh, but found no instances of such substances, the China Network Television reports.

Deng also said the ministry would conduct a further investigation with public security bodies, the customs agency and departments for the administration of industry and commerce.

The South Korean media had reported that the country had strengthened its customs inspections as part of a crackdown on the smuggling of the Chinese drug capsules made from dead babies and infants in northeastern China.

South Korean officials said some people thought the capsules could boost man's sexual abilities. However, an investigation had shown that they contained harmful ingredients.
