Of course China is always ready and prepared! But that is not the question? The question is who should ‘fire’ first, who would 'blink' first? Because in 'chess' terms this would have propaganda consequences and value.

Tough Tarzan like postures and mouthing serves no constructive purposes than to feed the vain 'simple minded' domestic audiences of the respective countries concerned. All these manoeuvres look 'stupid' to educated International audiences; and both Governments know this but are not revealing their worry about 'public image' damage control; viz-a-viz as to who is more sophisticated and intellectual or are just a bunch of jungle apes imitating Tarzan!

In any case, the Chinese Government or its military intelligence is still working hard evaluating whether it is a U.S. sponsored intimidation for testing of China's sensitivity or whether it is the Philippines trying to goad the U.S. into declaring that it would come to the Philippines' rescue over a disputed sand-bank? The U.S. is still looking for a precedent where they have invaded over a disputed sand-bank or shoal! They know that the Chinese do not '%%%%' around. When China says - do not cross the Yalu River, it means exactly that!

Further, no one has firmed up on whether they are prepared to test the dispute as a "nine dotted line" dispute or whether it is a fisheries dispute or an 'oil and gas' dispute? In the latter two, the Chinese are amenable to joint discussion as to sharing of economic exploitation. The Philippines must first come clean. Are they defending the indefensible or are they willing to talk over money? All they have to do is wear the Asian 'hat' to think. China can talk 'money but not "Zheng He's mausoleum"!
