You can think whatever you like. The Aussies reckon that they form part of Asia for the time being, nothing you can do to change it. When conditions change, they may consider their land to be the 51st state of USA. lol

They do consider Australia a part of Asia.
A few years ago, I was invested in a mutual fund that invested in Asia. It was an Asian ex-Japan fund. That means it invested in Asia minus Japan.
This was when the Japanese were riding high. And though American stocks were also doing well, I was invested in the fund for diversification.
The funny thing I noticed was that the fund was invested heavily in Australia as well. Which was kind of funny to me because I thought "when did Australia become a part of Asia?".
But I guess it's not so strange after all.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-17337226 BBC News article titled 'Asia's 'Richest Woman' in Family Feud".
Snippet from the article:
Australian mining mogul, Gina Rinehart, is said to be Asia's richest woman with an estimated wealth of more than $18 bn.

At first, I thought it would be about a Chinese woman, when I read the title. ;-0
But since Australia's part of Asia, well you get the point. ;-0
I bet Gina made her fortune selling pieces of rock to the Chinese. ;-)
