題北謝碑 Inscription on an upright stone tablet of Xie

一為遷客去長沙,---Yi wei2 qian ke4(*1A) qu4 Changsh,
西望長安不見家;---Xi wang4 Changan(*2B) bu4 jian4 jia;
黃鶴樓中吹玉笛,---Huanghelou(*3C) zhong chui yu4 di2,
江城五月落梅花.---Jiangcheng wu3 yue4 Luo Mei Hua(*4D).

The explanations in plain Chinese and English

(1) 做了遷謫的客人, 要到長沙地方去,
As an official being demoted I was banished to Changsha,
(2) 我回頭向西邊望到長安, 早已看不見我底家鄉了.
While I was on my way I looked to the west to Changan and I could not see
my house.
(3) 偶然路過這座黃鶴樓, 耳躲裏聽得裏面有人吹起玉笛來,
Accidentally, when travelling passed the Huanghe Lou (Yellow Crane Tower)
in E Zhou (鄂州), I heard somebody playing flute in the tower.
(4) 這時候, 江城正當五月, 怎樣還吹唱著落梅花的曲調呢?
As it was in the month of May, I wondered why the music of the dropping
plum leaves were being played.

Notes:
(*1A) 遷客 (qian ke4) = 是貶到外省去做官的人

(*2B) 長安 (ChangAn) = the present day of the city of XiAn (西安) in Shaanxi
province (陝西省 )

(*3C) 黃鶴樓 (HuangHeLou) = 在今湖北省 (Hubei province) 城外黃鶴嘰上

(*4D) 落梅花 (Luo Mei Hua) = 是曲名
