僧志安之詩 A poem by Seng Zhi An (生卒不詳)

絕句 Jue Ju
(A poem of four lines, each containing five or seven characters,
with a strict tonal patter and rhyme scheme).

古木陰中繫短篷,---Gu2 mu4 yin zhong ji4 (*1A) duan4 peng4 (*2B),
杖藜扶我過橋東;---Zhang4 li2 (*3C) fu2 wo3 guo4 qiao dong;
沾衣欲濕杏花雨,---Zhan yi yu4 shi xiang4 hua yu3,
吹面不寒楊柳風.---Chui mian4 bu4 han2 yang2 liu3 feng.

The explanations in plain Chinese and English.

(1) 在這裏老樹遮陰的所在, 將纜繩繫住了小船,
I tie my little boat under the shade of the old trees,
(2) 便拿著一根藜藤的手杖, 扶我走過橋的東邊.
Holding a walking stick I walk across the bridge to the east side.
(3) 在這二月天氣, 杏花開的時候, 時常會給小雨沾濕衣裳的,
The apricot flowers blossom in this February weather and my clothes often
get wet by the light rain.
(4) 但是楊柳樹上的風, 吹在臉上是不覺的冷的.
However, I don't feel cold when the wind from the willow trees blow onto
my face.

Notes:
(*1A) 繫 (ji4)
means tie; fasten; do up; button up.

(*2B) 短篷 (duan4 peng4)
In this case the author refers it as a little boat.
篷 (peng4) means the sail of a boat.
短 (duan4) means short.
短蓬 = 就是小船。

(*3C) 仗藜
是藤做的拐仗
