The latest one is from the observation of pineapple on the Great Wall to determine the import of this fruit to China before Europeans had interest in it.

The most plausible case is the fruit was brought by Zheng He's fleets.

Great review of the three explorers and map makers - now the puzzle remains -- what had the Arabs done to gather the maps of Matteo Ricci, Colombus, Polo and others ? Paul
