Chinese ships commonly known as junks are huge in size historically.
If one search under "Junk ship" in Wikipedia, one can see European ships had no more than one mast, some has none! whereas ornate Chinese Junks had 3-4 masts and look it up with magnifying glass if can't see it, some might even have 5, but that information comes nowhere than directly from the Fra-Mauro map itself 1460! Which tells you Europeans had better record keeping than the Chinese! and that Chinese Junks were commonly seen crossing the Atlantic, probably thousands of them, human migration could be seen settling in the Americas-North and South, some Chinese had mingled with the local Indian tribes and other Indian empires, some had ended up on sacrificial platforms which were spotted across the landscape...it was this kind of drains in terms of human resources, not only i material resources that had also prompted the Ming court to stop all kind of sea traveling abroad. Precluding the closing of door of China to the outside world for centuries to come.

On the contrary, Ming China kept very good records, except the court officials also destroyed them quite thoroughly.

The official Ming History only had brief mention of Zheng He. We are only recovering his achievements by reading through bits and pieces from his assistants.

The Qing dynasty contributed as much in destroying the Ming Imperial records, it is well known that Qing Emperors defamed the previous Ming dynasty and its Emperors, any record that mentioned the Ming achievement was thus systematically destroyed : http://history.howstuffworks.com/european-history/chinese-beat-columbus.htm
