I'm working on a proposal for a cookbook and want to find a quotable source for the Hakka world population. I have seen many figures but don't know what is accurate. In Luodai in October, a friend gave me a stamped envelope from the post office that had this printed on it: The 20th World Hakka Convention. On the back of the envelope a paragraph is written about the Hakka. In it, it says "Now there are altogether 120 million Hakkas distributed in more than eighty countries and districts all over the world."
I'm not sure who supplied this information and if it is accurate. I feel that possibly the 20th World Hakka Convention provided the facts, but I don't know who to contact to verify these numbers. If they are true, they seem to be the most recent. They are the highest that I have seen. Did anyone who went to the 20th Hakka convention know if is true and who is responsible for the facts?
Thanks.
