I read this article and found the author did a very good survey. Mr. Wu said: 1994年梅州市爲在梅州舉行"世界客屬第十二次懇親大會"，通過多渠道，包括國內外函調、採訪、採摘報刊材料等方面匯總統計，客家人
在國內外分佈人數共6562.429萬人，
其中國內（包括港澳臺）6107.8萬人，
國外454.629萬人。
So based on the above, the prodicted Hakka population as of 2002 may be
World: 70 million,
China: 65 million,
Overseas: 5 million,
