禾雀仔 The little sparrow
禾雀仔在搬沙沙,
搬到婆婆樹頭下.
The little sparrow is moving sand,
It has come under grandma's tree.
婆婆出來喂鴨仔,
姊姊出來摘梅花.
Grandma comes out to feed the ducklings,
Elder sister comes out to pluck the plum flower
梅花樹上一罐油,
留下三叔討老婆.
On top of the plum tree there is a can of oil,
Which is reserved for third uncle to get married.
老婆討到幾多歲,
老婆討到十三歲.
How old is the wife third uncle married?
Third uncle married a wife of 13 years old.
唔梳頭來 嘸洗手,
白米煮了變烏飯.
She does not comb her hair and wash her hands,
The white rice she cooked has turned into black cooked rice.
糯米蒸了成酸酒,
酸酒喂喂也都好.
She steams the polished glutinous rice with sour wine,
It turns out to be very sour but it does not matter.
