It has been a long time since I had my last post in this forum. I wish you all, Dr. Lee, Yong An and all my old friends are doing ok.
I have a favor to ask. Recently, a Facebook friend of mine posted a picture from the late Tjong a Fie's mansion in Medan, Indonesia. We then have the question about the dui lian on the entrance door.
My friend thought, it was:
西銘積德 Xi míng jīdé
金鑑流微 Jīn jiàn liú wēi
I thought, it would make more sense if the last character is zhi or zheng instead of Wei, so it will look like this:
西銘積德, Xi míng jīdé
金鑑流徵,Jīn jiàn liú Zhǐ.
I was looking at the picture that my friend used, but couldn't figure it out whether it was a 'wei' or 'zhi', so I went to do a search and found this one:
However, I still could not figure it out from this picture too. Maybe some of you with a better Chinese background could help and tell me what is that last character? Is it a Wei or a Zhi?
ps: I have emailed Mr. Tjong A Fie's grandson whose email address I found in this forum, but I'm afraid he is not checking his email very often.
