The variations of Hakka dialect
The variations of Hakka dialect that I extracted from the biographies of
300 prominent Hakka Chinese in Malaysia. If you are not sure of the whereabouts
of these Hakka counties please write to this Forum and I will scan the maps
and show the exact locations. Is your ancestral county include in the list?
(01) Ho-Po (河婆), in the counties of Jieyang (揭陽) & Jiexi (揭西).
(02) Dong-Guan (東莞), in the north of Hong Kong.
(03) Mei-Xian (梅縣), on the top right hand corner of Guangdong province.
(04) Da-Pu (大埔), near the border with Fujian province on the right hand
corner.
(05) Bao-An (寶安), in the northwest of Hong Kong.
(06) Pu-Ning (普寧), in the west of Shantou (汕頭 or Swatow).
(07) Chak-Kai (赤溪), in the west from Macao (澳門), Guangdong province.
(08) Xing-Ning (興寧), in the west from Meixian.
(09) Hui-Zhou (惠州), in the east of Guangzhou (廣州) city.
(10) Zeng-Cheng (增城), in the northeast of Guangzhou.
(11) Feng-Shun (豐順), in south of Meixian.
(12) Yong-Ding (永定) is in the map of Fujian province, north of Dapu.
(13) Wu-Hua (五華), in the southwest of Meixian.
(14) Hui-Yang (惠陽), is next to Huizhou city (惠州市).
(15) Chao-Yang (潮陽), is next to Shantou (Swatow 汕頭).
(16) Long-Chuan (龍川), is in the west of Mei-Xian (梅縣).
(17) Ping-Yuan (平遠), is in the north of Meixian.
(18) He-Yuan (河源), in the northeast of Guangzhou City.
(19) Zi- Jin (紫金), in the right of Heyuan (河源).
(20) Cha-Zhou-Hak (潮州客), Shantou (Swatow) ?
(21) Jiao-Ling (蕉嶺), in the northeast of Meixian.
