Hello,
I am conducting a research project under the New Media Studies program at the University of Toronto at Scarborough.
The project is titled: “Personal History of our Forebears: The Hakkanese”.
The primary objective is to create a global gathering place (essentially an online community) for Hakka and Hakka enthusiasts, both young and old, to share and explore personal histories as well as to illuminate Hakka history and culture.
From my own personal research there has not been an establishment of a community based or scholarly website that provides primary sources regarding the Hakkanese Diaspora. Also, there is currently no Hakka based Website that focuses on bringing youth and their forebears together to share stories and experiences.
I would be delighted and honoured to have your opinions on this project. There is also the issue of finding primary sources that would be willing to represent their personal stories in a collective volume (any volunteers?). I was hoping some of you may have some insight in this regard.
Thank you for your consideration and I hope to hear from you soon in this regard either by email: 03keelek@utsc.utoronto.ca or through the Asiawind Forum?
Sincerely,
Kyle Keele
