My grandfather was came to Nanyang (Singkawang,Indonesia) from China with his father a decade ago, he was 2 years then. He have past away long time back. Our family surname is Pui (in Hakka), Pei (in mandarin) it is pao pei de pei means "dear".
Not so much people bare the same surname with us, in our Singkawang city all people bare this surname is a familly link.
Onces I was told that at Kuching/Malaysia there is an organization under this surname, but I wonder is it true?
I would like to know my ancestry if anyone know the story of these surname background please...
Because I do not write or read in Mandarin, theres a barrier for me to a more further search by my self.
For the forum info about Singkawang city in Indonesia( West Borneo) almost half of the population is hakka people which have preserve all the culture, including the young generation is still using autentic hakka language. Even local native people is influence by the hakka culture, some even can speak fluently in hakka.
Singkawang is a Chinatown more than China it self. Every corner of this city you can find a temple to worship.
I have move and residing at Singapore for the past four years.
Very appreciate if some far away friend can help me.
Thanks.
