US has annual $35bn "services trade surplus" with China

Postby Martin Su » Wed Nov 08, 2017 10:09 am

The US has a growing yearly "services trade surplus" with China.

It was $34.7 billion in 2016, which was "up 12.3% from 2015."

China excels at manufacturing. US excels at services. Looks like two complementary economies to me.

How about a China-US free-trade-agreement (FTA), where both countries focus on their areas of comparative advantage to enrich both nations?

The White House says the U.S. trade deficit with China is too high…but it may be a lot lower than it seems."
