Biography

1947 Born in Nanjing, Province of Jiangsu, China. Ms. Fu is the protege of her father, Mr. Fu Baoshi, a grand master of Chinese painting.
1965 At the advice of her father, she enrolled in Nanjing Normal University, Department of Chinese Literature.
1970 Graduated from University. Taught Chinese literature at Juining County Middle School in Jiangsu.
1975 Joined Nanjing Museum to work on authentication of calligraphy and painting.
1978 Joined the Jiangsu Institute of Chinese Painting to become a professional artist.
1979 Sponsored by Department of Education to Japan for advanced studies.
1980 Exhibition at the Fuji Art Museum in Shizuoka Prefecture.
1981 Enrolled in Musashino Art University for a degree program in Japanese art.
1983 Enrolled in Tokyo National University of Fine Arts. Studied under Professor Hirayama Ikuo on Dunhuang art.
1985 Held exhibition at Art Gallery of Seibu Department Store.
1986 Feb - Exhibition in Hong Kong.
Apr - Exhibition at Tokyo Central Museum.
June - Exhibition at Tokyo Tachikawa Will Cultural Center.
Sep - Joint Television program by China and Japan to introduce Ms. Fu's work :"The Rainbow of Water Ink Painting".
1987 Feb - Exhibition at Hanshin Art Gallery in Osaka
May - Exhibition in Lucerne, Switzerland
Aug - Mural painting at Daisyoji of Nagano
Nov - Mural painting at Jyorakuji of Nagano.
1988 Mar - Complete two murals at Hoshyoji of Wakayama Prefecture (2 m x 6 m each)

1990 Apr - Donate "Red Sun and Clouds" to Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture.
May - Mural painting "Enryakuji Temple at Mt. Hiei" and "Guoqing Temple at Mt. Taintai" (4m x 5m) for Enmanji at Yokohama. Well received by NHK Radio and KBS Television which presented a special 2-week program on the painting.
Aug - Completed mural painting "Four Seasons in Sanzen-in Temple" (2m x 8m), commended by Japanese Minister of Justice.
Sep - Donated "Kamakura Yabusame" to Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine in Kamakura.
Dec - Received Ringa Art Promoting Prize from Mr. Kawakita Michiaki.
1991 Jan - Mural paintings at Jyorinji of Gunma Prefecture - "Plum" and "Eyheiji" (2.1m x 7m)
Feb - Published "The Ink Paintings of Fu Yiyao: A Collection" by Kodansha
Mar - Mural painting "Tendoji" (2m x 6m) at Ryudoin, Nagano Prefecture.
Jun - Personal Exhibition at Nagano.
Aug - Personal exhibition in Hong Kong.
Oct - Personal exhibition at Yokohama Art Museum.
Nov - Personal exhibition in Taipei, Taiwan.
Dec - Donated "Mt. Mikasa" to Prince Mikasa.
1992 Jan - Completed mural "Reception of the 25 Budhisattva" (1.5m x 5m) for the Central Hall of Enryakuji

2000 Personal exhibit in Hiroshima. 天台真盛宗總本山西教寺 (真盛上人頌). NHK sponsored travel to Ningpo, Zhejiang. Published "Zen of Vegetable Roots" 菜根譚 in collaboration with Siu-Leung Lee.
2001 NHK Broadcast Ms. Fu's painting. YongPing Temple at Mount DaBen 大本山永平寺( TianTong Temple, Ningpo 天童寺圖),Yongping Temple (永平寺圖),DaoYuan spring expedition (道元行春圖)。6-panel screen.
2002 祖道傳東圖 in memory of 750th anniversary of passing away of the Buddhist Dogen (道元). Total 36 paintings exhibited in Yongping Temple. 
2004 Personal exhibit at China National Art Academy (Beijing).  Lecture in memory of Master Fu Baoshi's 100th birthday.
