麥繼強教授
Prof. Kai Keung Mark is a retired professor
in Dept. of Biology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and retired
Dept. Head and Principal Lecturer, Dept. of Science, Hong Kong Institute
of Education.
He started to collect Chinese coins to teach Chinese history
to his two daughters by 1980. He got hooked, and became a serious
collector. He later branched out his collection into other areas. After
collecting for 20 years in Hong Kong, the world center of Chinese antiques
trading, he has established five lines that may be ranked top ten
internationally. These include Chinese coins,
Chinese bronze mirrors, Tang dynasty Changsha kiln items, Neolithic
potteries, and ordos items. Being a molecular
biologist and biotechnologist, he is good at screening, and organize
random information. So he build up his collection from the common and
inexpensive items, and proceeded to the more rare and expensive items. He
is now an expert in authentication and dating. He is a central figure in
using high technology to study Chinese antiques in the Art Gallery in the
Chinese University of Hong Kong. This project is the only project
supported by government funds to study Chinese antiques so far.
Prof. Mark has a stock analysis column
in Asiawind.com (Mark's
Column under Hong Kong Stocks Report). He has been quite successful in
his stock analysis and forecast. He used ten percent of his gains from
stock trading to expand his collections. To him, stock analysis and
Chinese antique collection reinforce each other. To become a successful
collector, he must have inherited the collection gene from his great grand
father, the famous Chinese reformer, Mr. Kang Youwei
康有為 (1858-1927), who himself was a great collector.

was a chemistry professor turned internet entrepreneur. Dr. Lee has spent
his career in academic institutes and industry. Before establishing

Biotechnology. His research interest was chemistry and biochemistry of
natural products. Dr. Lee's scientific research includes the chemistry of
Chinese herbal medicine and enzymatic synthesis of medicinal plant
products.
Dr. Lee has acquired a wide interest
in many areas of Chinese culture besides science. Since his early school
years, he has been interested in art. He won an international prize in

production of Nickolodeon that is
distributed in more than a dozen countries. He has held solo calligraphy exhibits in New
York City, Kansas City, Columbus, and a joint exhibit with American Chinese artist at
Beijing University.
Dr. Lee is probably the first and only Chinese American with his calligraphy used on the
entrance gate of a major Chinese national park, the Eight-Spring Gorge nicknamed the
Oriental Black Canyon,at Mount Taiheng, .
He has been consulted by museums and antique collectors to identify and
authenticate Chinese relics using calligraphy contents. The Chinese
calligraphy of this website is his own creation.
Occasionally, he composes
Chinese couplets, translates classical Chinese poems into English and
English poems into Chinese classical formats. Using his
chemistry knowledge, Dr. Lee cooks Chinese gourmet dishes enjoyed by many
friends. He also practices Chinese martial art of Yang style Taiji
楊家太極.
Asiawind
